JOB TITLE: Freight Specialist
DEPARTMENT: EXIM
SUMMARY:
Receives, verifies, stores and distributes all information related to import and export shipments of materials, products and supplies within the department. The Freight Specialist acts as an import and export liaison between vendors, customers, accounting department, purchasing department, and 3 PL teams for international shipments. Types, distributes, and files forms and reports. Traces missing or late shipments for issue resolution. Processes and records all documents for inbound imports and outbound export shipments. Maintains inventory accuracy, and insures prompt and accurate receiving, movement, and tracking of import/export container materials, product, and supplies. Analyzes and anticipates market trends to achieve maximum efficiency through cost reduction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains inventory accuracy and integrity at all times.
Follows all facility policies and procedures, including, but not limited to the employee handbook.
Will be involved with Import and Export International freight.
Collects and shares required information with the necessary departments and involved parties for effective collaboration.
Collaborates with the supplier/forwarder to observe the delivery date for all import and export shipments.
Compares costs for premium quotes and other quotes with multiple forwarders.
Utilizes information to determine shipping options.
Monitors, manages, and tracks all import and export freight costs (FCL, AIR, LCL)
Confirms accuracy of all shipping documents through continuous communication with suppliers/forwarders
Works with international forwarders on invoice procedures
Directs scanning of all import/export documents into assigned folders.
Performs resolution of receiving issues between PP&C, 3PL, and Toto Warehouse
Provides documents on containers to appropriate associates
Coordinates with PP&C on import/export container issues.
Supports all other import/export activities
Establish and maintain effective practices and procedures for employees regarding safety, training, 5S housekeeping, and discipline per applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as TOTO policies and procedures.
While prioritizing, we accurately process receiving with the shortest L/T and promptly move cargo to the correct location.
Maintains good housekeeping practices (safe, neat, and orderly work area per 5S program), follows all safety rules and abides by all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations. Follows and supports ISO related activities, and encourages other associates to follow ISO recommendations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities (No direct reports to this position).
Collaborates and communicates with suppliers, forwarders, and all other interested parties
Manages cargo from origin to receiving to support and maintain material schedules.
Optimization of efficiency through minimization of cost.
Monitor and analyze international market trends, sharing the information with interested parties.
Demonstrates constant learner mentality and grows knowledge base and skill set
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency.
Three (3) years of related experience in logistics or production control.
Great oral and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Working knowledge of PC-based skills (examples: AS400, JDE, Word, excel, Tableau).
Ability to work without close supervision
