What You’ll Do:
- Cake Creation: Prepare and bake a variety of cakes from scratch, following recipes and maintaining consistency in flavor and texture.
- Cake Decorating: Create visually appealing designs on cakes, using various techniques like piping, fondant, buttercream, and edible decorations.
- Customization: Decorate cakes to meet customer specifications, ensuring each design is unique and high-quality.
- Timeliness: Ensure cakes are finished and ready to meet customer deadlines for special orders and events.
- Quality Control: Ensure all cakes meet Tous Les Jours’ high standards of presentation, taste, and creativity.
- Food Safety: Maintain cleanliness in the decorating area and follow food safety guidelines during the preparation and decoration of cakes.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other bakery staff to ensure a smooth workflow and meet customer satisfaction.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally assist customers in selecting cakes and answering questions about decoration options or custom orders.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Previous experience as a cake decorator or baker specializing in cakes is preferred, but we’ll train the right candidate.
- Artistic Skills: Strong attention to detail and artistic ability to create beautiful and intricate cake designs.
- Baking Knowledge: Understanding of cake-baking techniques, ingredients, and the ability to create different types of cakes (e.g., sponge cakes, layer cakes, etc.).
- Creativity: Ability to work with various decorating techniques, such as fondant, buttercream, piping, and other edible decorations.
- Physical Stamina: Able to work in a physically demanding environment—standing for long periods, lifting, and handling kitchen equipment.
- Punctual and Reliable: Show up on time and ready to work—dependability is key.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Customer Service: A passion for providing excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction with custom cake orders.
