Interim Middle and Upper School Visual Arts Teacher
Tower Hill School seeks a qualified candidate to teach Middle and Upper School Art from January 2025 through June 2025. The successful candidate will support our vibrant arts program and our community in an engaging and meaningful way in line with the mission and goals of Tower Hill School. This person will also be eligible for our full time position starting in August 2025. Candidates with the experience to teach Upper School ceramics and manage our ceramics studio will be given additional consideration, but we welcome all interested candidates.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching Middle School comprehensive Art classes
- Teaching Upper School Ceramics classes
- Participate in regular conferences with students, parents and colleagues
- Serve as an advisor for up to 10 middle school students (depending on interest and experience)
- Participate in faculty collaborations and meetings
- Assist with student supervision and chaperoning field trips
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience and demonstrated interest in teaching Art
- Bachelor’s degree or MFA in Visual Arts, Education, or related field
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
- Enthusiasm for professional growth, academic excellence and creative teaching
- Ability to plan and organize educational content
- Commitment to broad participation in school life
- Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
- Ability to safely lift and move moderately heavy objects frequently
- Experience in managing a ceramics studio and kiln (preferred but not required)
