What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Summer Management Intern position at Town of Addison?
Under the supervision of the Assistant Airport Director, Airport Summer Management Intern assists management with airport research, maintenance, special events, real estate, and general day to day operations.
- Assists airport administration, airfield maintenance, operational duties and general day-to-day operations.
- Assists with based airfield maintenance, and airfield inspections.
- Assists airport operations with international garbage handling, stormwater planning, wildlife controls, access control training and various research projects.
- Assists management in airport special events, community outreach and community relations.
- Become familiar with airport governing documents such as strategic plan, master plan, CIP, rules and regulations and minimum standards.
- Become familiar with city management, and various reporting functions.
- Assists with based aircraft count, noise monitoring efforts and hangar leasing.
- Create and update various management reports related to operational efficiency and safety.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent AND
- Currently enrolled at a Junior level in an aviation management or related degree program at an accredited University or College; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to obtain Airport Movement Area certification within two weeks months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of work safety practices, procedures, and protocols.
- Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20, selected candidate must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the English language.
- Skilled in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
- Skilled in excellent computer skills to include MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Skilled in demonstrated strong analytical skills.
- Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work is generally performed indoors but may involve limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
This is a nonexempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. May be required to work overtime if needed.
