- Integrate social learning into the classroom and work to foster an identity-safe, empathetic, active learning community.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for five classes of ELA that articulate clear learning targets aligned with both the 2017 Massachusetts State ELA Standards and the APS ELA curriculum.
- Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their child’s education.
- Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
- Assess students regularly and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
- Knowledge of Common Core/MA 2017 Curriculum Framework for English Language Arts.
- A strong work ethic and a growth mindset
- Strong classroom community-building skills and restorative justice approaches to discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Massachusetts Teacher Certification in 9-12 English Language Arts required.
