The Site Director maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all, and provides a quality experience to the community. The Site Director is responsible for operating a licensed school-age childcare program as a supervisor of an on-site team at an assigned location.

Welcome to Andover Recreation Kid Care. Our school age childcare program has been organized to provide supervision for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Andover Recreation Kid Care is a school age childcare program licensed by the State of Massachusetts. Essential Functions:

1. Program Supervision:
  1. Develop and implement a program that meets state licensing requirements and Kid Care standards for quality school age childcare programs
  2. Supervise and ensure a physically and psychologically safe environment and atmosphere for youth and staff
  3. Lead a fun, developmentally engaging environment & activities via appropriate techniques
  4. Guide and mentor staff in their development of positive relationships with youth in program, oversee and engage with youth, monitor and supervise at all times
  5. Oversee all aspects of youth management for assigned program to include regular attendance and headcounts, managing behaviors, implementing behavior plans, working effectively with parents/guardians and school administrators to facilitate youth success
  6. Actively engage in program to include facilitating activities, administering snack, effective set up and site break down including clean up
  7. Respond to incidents and emergencies, medical related and otherwise, following appropriate procedures and training
  1. Build and maintain effective relationships with parents/guardians and school administrators through open communication  
2. Leadership of Employees 3. Administration:
  • Meet State Licensing requirements of an Assistant Site Director:
    1. At least 20 years of age and meet one of the following sets of requirements:
      • Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care; and have six months of experience working with school age children; or
      • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an Associate’s Degree in any field of study listed in 606 CMR 7.09(19)(a)3.a. and have nine months of experience working with school age children; or
  • Possess strong organizational and group management skills
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties
  • Ability to work with diverse population, including but not limited to, all races, ethnicities, ages, genders and gender identities, sexual orientations and diverse abilities
  • Attend and actively participate in all meetings as assigned

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Working extended hours may be required as needed.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
