The Town of Avon is accepting applications for a Sports Program Attendant II with the Town of Avon’s Recreation Department.
The Sports Program Attendant II is responsible for leading, coordinating and monitoring athletic programs hosted by the Town of Avon Recreation Department while maintaining standards of play and ensuring that rules are being observed. This position is considered Part Time/Year Round.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the Recreation Program Supervisor with coordinating sports programs.
- Responsible for collecting payments for drop-in athletics and leagues.
- Ensures all possible safety measures are observed.
- Enforces the rules of the program and the facility.
- Leads activity to demonstrate quality play and to encourage participation.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work performed is primarily indoors at the Avon Recreation Center, within the Avon Elementary School gymnasium area and occasionally outdoor venues. Will be required to regularly talk, hear, sit, and stand, for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 15 pounds, and at times, objects weighing upwards of 50 pounds. Occasionally requires walking, running, jumping, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma is required and previous experience participating in sports is preferred. At least two years of experience supervising sports programming required. CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required within 3 months of hire.
Special Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of principles and procedures of various sports programs, safety requirements, and for providing meaningful customer service 2. Knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Office programs and Recreation management software 3. Ability to communicate effectively with patrons 4. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision 5. CPR/AED/First Aid certification is preferred 6. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions 7. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing 8. Ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing; Spanish is considered a plus
