Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electric Lineworker to join our team. The successful candidate will perform difficult skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electric utility transmission and distribution systems.
This is heavy work that requires physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks under adverse weather conditions. The worker must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
The Electric Lineworker will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground power transmission and distribution lines and related facilities. This includes operating equipment such as bucket trucks, digger-derrick trucks and back-hoe.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of electric line construction and maintenance and the hazards encountered. They must be able to set poles, string wire and perform related work. The ability to follow oral directions, observe safety rules and regulations, and read blue prints and electric circuit diagrams is also essential.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
- Installing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground power transmission and distribution lines and related facilities
- Performing installation, maintenance and repair work on low and high voltage transmission and distribution lines up to 60 KV
- Operating equipment such as bucket trucks, digger-derrick trucks and back-hoe
- Hanging transformers and connecting secondary wires
- Installing, repairing and replacing cross arms, leg supports, cable insulator and lightning arrestors
- Installing new service
- Performing required line work on energized and de-energized circuits
- Installing underground services
- Installing and maintaining overhead lines
- Trimming trees
- Puting up banners and decorations
- Assisting with emergency problems
- Locating underground power lines for contractors and property owners
- Troubleshooting and locating problems
- Performing necessary repair work
- Sending and pulling meters
- Helping maintain and construct substations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of electric line construction and maintenance and the hazards encountered
- Ability to set poles, string wire and perform related work
- Ability to follow oral directions
- Ability to observe safety rules and regulations
- Ability to read blue prints and electric circuit diagrams
Education and Experience:
Special Requirements:
- Possession of an appropriate CDL driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Possession of appropriate flagging and CPR certificates
