Job Title: Courier (Fleet Department)
Hours: (19) per week
Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 12:00pm noon
Friday, 8:00am – 11:00am
Union Affiliation: Non-Union
Starting Salary: $23.41/per hour
Function:
Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, aids the Fleet Department with the transportation of automotive parts to and from the fleet shop and parts vendors as needed. Assists with organizing and stocking the parts room. Performs various Department of Motor Vehicles tasks on behalf of the Town of Berlin, to include registration of vehicles, retrieval of DMV forms, emissions testing, etc.
Typical Duties, Responsibilities, Tasks & Assignments:
• Positive interactions with fellow employees, vendors and members of the public.
• Always maintain a professional appearance.
• Complete daily reports including drivers log and attendance time records.
• Deliver vehicles to and from the fleet shop.
• Work with vendors on warranty issues concerning parts.
• Maintain the delivery vehicle to include cleanliness, perform pre-trip inspections and reporting repairs needed on vehicle.
• Drive town vehicles in a safe, courteous and responsible manner.
• Physically load and unload products from trucks.
• Assist with maintaining the appearance of town vehicles when applicable.
• Read and understand packing slips and invoices to ensure correct materials are received.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
Special Skills & Requirements:
Must be at least (18) years of age and hold a valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred) and be able to maintain a safe driving record with a clean driving history of at least the past three (3) years and continue to maintain a safe driving record. Must have mechanical aptitude. Must be able to work on your feet for entire shift and be capable of lifting and moving parts/boxes of up to (70) pounds. Must be able to comprehend an Alpha Numeric Sequence. Must have ability to read a street map and plan efficient routes of travel to accomplish driving tasks. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
