Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator(s) - Sports & Programs, the Tennis Head Coach position is responsible for planning and leading the day-to-day tennis activities that take place during the 2025 season. This seasonal position, ranging from 10-20 hours must be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (into afternoons for Friday matches) from June through July. Candidates must be 16 or older to apply.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator(s) - Sports & Programs, the Tennis Head Coach position is responsible for planning and leading the day-to-day tennis activities that take place during the 2025 season. This seasonal position, ranging from 10-20 hours must be available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (into afternoons for Friday matches) from June through July. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Planning tennis activities.
- Conducting team practices and matches.
- Ensures safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Act as liaison between parents and league.
- Oversee general supervision of assistant coaches.
- Provide a safe and positive environment for participants to practice and compete.
- Must be able to communicate with youth and adults effectively.
- Must be able to travel to and from matches in various locations along the Front Range.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rules and regulations of tennis is required.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and diplomacy.
- Course work in recreation, education, or related field preferred.
- Experience in coaching tennis preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of tennis skills/techniques to efficiently help run the program.
- Experience working with children.
- Valid State of Colorado Driver’s License (required)
- CPR/First Aid Certification or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in sports settings. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during program oversight and evaluation.
- The employee will regularly travel to and from various locations throughout the Town of Berthoud and Colorado to complete job responsibilities and tasks assigned.
- Be able to physically lead and demonstrate skill/activity.
- Must possess the strength and stamina to perform strenuous physical activity.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
