Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Fitness Coordinator, this position is responsible for?providing customized fitness training programs to?Berthoud?Recreation?Center members?and/or?daily?participants?while educating and guiding them on proper cardiovascular exercise, resistance training, and attaining a healthier lifestyle.?Trainers are compensated for their consultations, sessions, and planning time for each client. Must be available to accommodate 5-10 clients per week (weekends, evenings, and mornings), and clients are provided by the Berthoud Recreation Center.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following
Demonstrate and assist with proper techniques, form, and use of equipment through demonstration and verbal cues.
Ensure participant safety with observation throughout the session, modifying intensity levels and individual execution of techniques accordingly.
Recognize emergent/dangerous situations and react quickly and calmly. Administer first aid as needed. Complete accident/incident reports.
Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within assigned area; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
Communicate and respond to messages from the recreation center staff in a timely manner.
Attend all staff meetings, trainings and orientations.
Be punctual and prepared for all appointments with clients.
Prepare site for activity, ensure proper clean up at the end of class and perform safety checks on equipment.
Enforce fitness program rules and policies for patrons.
Report any issues to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
Promote and sell personal training programs and services.
Assist in establishing and enforcing rules of strength and conditioning areas and group fitness rooms.
Develop and implement a risk management plan for fitness emphasizing First Aid/ CPR, and HIPAA regulations.
Regularly conduct surveys to determine participant interest and satisfaction.
Education/Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education
Any combination of education and experience may be considered for the position. A typical way to demonstrate the education and experience necessary for the position is:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
0-3 years of experience in leading personal training.
Nationally accredited personal training certification required through ACE, AFAA, NASM, or NETA and/or other nationally recognized organizations. (Required)
Enthusiastic and passionate with ability to motivate others to improve their overall fitness and health.
Knowledge of anatomy, basic nutrition, and exercise science to promote fitness and educate participants within the scope of certification and training.
Must have excellent social, verbal, and written communication skills.
Establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of fitness programming.
Provide superior customer service and resolve customer complaints.
Current certification in Community CPR, First Aid and AED or within 3 months of hire.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of general office software, including word processing and spreadsheets, as well as experience with specialized recreational management software or other fitness-related platforms.
Certificates And Licenses
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or acquire after 3 months of hire
Nationally accredited personal training certification is available through ACE, NASM, ACSM, or any other nationally recognized organization.
