The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Programs Lead. This position is responsible for the design, instruction, and oversight of various youth programs, special events, and duties within the Programs division. This involves maintaining knowledge of specific methodologies or practices for appropriate participant and/or employee education and utilizing appropriate techniques and progressions to ensure a quality product.
This role has a primary focus on afterschool programs, summer camps, outdoor programs, and sports & events including interacting with youth, parents, patrons, and program participants. Programs Leads must be flexible, adaptable, accountable, organized, and team-oriented with strong communication skills. Leads have a combination of knowledge, skills, experience, training, education, certification, or licensure to teach skills and provide an appropriate level of leadership.

- Must be at least 21 years of age,
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) or more years of customer service experience required.
- One (1) or more years of computer experience and Microsoft Office experience required.
- Experience teaching skills related to outdoor recreation, environmental education, or other pertinent outdoor activities.
- Must have verifiable education or training in work with school-age children in such area as recreation, education, scouting; and the incumbent must have completed at least one of the Programs Director qualifications as required by the Colorado Department of Health and Human Services.
- Certification and/or appropriate credentials and proof of study in specialty area of instruction required at time of hire.
- Community CPR, first aid and AED training required within 60 days of hire.
- Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
- A valid Colorado Driver’s license required for any employees where driving would be a component of the position.
- College degree in Recreation, Exercise Physiology, Natural Resource Management, or related area preferred.
- For positions in youth programs, at least one (1) year of experience with children in a group setting required. Teaching experience with youth desired.
Hiring Pay Range: $24.00 - $27.75 per hour, $49,920.00 - $57,750.00 if annualized.
Full Pay Range: $24.00 - $31.50 per hour, $49,920.00 - $65,520.00 if annualized.
SENSITIVITY STATUS:
Because the Town's Recreation Department positions may involve direct contact with children, the Town requires that the incumbent in this position must have a clear criminal history that bears on their fitness to have responsibility for the safety and well-being of children. The candidate or employee must receive clearance for a criminal history check and child abuse and neglect as determined by the Colorado Department of Human Services.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Primary shifts for this Full-Time position vary, but are typically Monday through Friday. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability; and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
