ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Possess and maintain valid New Mexico driver’s license with no DUI or DWI convictions.
- 21 years of age or older at the time of employment.
- Must be able to read and write the English language.
- Must have not been released or discharged under dishonorable conditions from any of the armed forces of the United States.
- Ability to meet and maintain departmental physical standards.
- Must have completed the NMLEA police academy training or can be Certified through an out-of-state certification.
- Valid New Mexico State Driver’s license required.
- Must have a good driving record to be insurable for liability purposes.
- Must have good vision, hearing and reflexes.
- Must past physical ability test, able to handle stress and respond appropriately in stressful conditions.
- Must pass a conditional post-offer of employment Physical Examination and Drug Analysis Test.
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- Must be able to proficiently use the following items: telephone, radio, patrol vehicle, calculator, camera, copy machine, firearm, shotgun, baton, flashlight, handcuffs, shackles, lights/siren/PA system, radar gun, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and shovel, flares, bullet-proof vests, pepper spray, hearing and eye protection.
- EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: 2 years’ continued experience as certified police officer (Out of State Certifications will have to successfully attend a Certification By Waiver Course through the NMLEA)

- Office Environment
- Outdoor Environment with varied weather conditions.
- Work hazards, or potential work hazards, includes physical confrontation, driving hazards, high speed chases, animals, gunfire, rescue attempts in difficult terrain, and remote possibility of hazardous materials spill.
- May be exposed to exhaust fumes, human and animal odors, dust, and mist.
- Work schedules shall include shift, evening, weekend, holiday and on-call hours. Travel is required.
