Responsibilities:
The Town Comptroller is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of an effective financial accounting system that accurately reflects the financial operations of the Town government and offers a framework for financial planning and analysis to support the operation and management of all Town departments. The Comptroller also assists the Town Supervisor in preparation of the Town budget and serves as an important resource in preparing financial forecasts, financial policies, and ensuring the Town’s compliance with governmental accounting requirements. The work is performed independently and involves close cooperation with the Supervisor, Town Board, Town Attorney, Receiver of Taxes and Town Assessor, as well as with other Town department heads and officials of outside taxing districts.
Experience and Position Requirements:
Qualified candidates must possess sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. The position requires demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of governmental finance topics, including accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, issuance and administration of debt, investments, budgeting, systems development and implementation, payroll, internal and external auditing, capital projects and grants. Must have knowledge of the NYS laws regarding Town finance and knowledge of municipal financial and accounting practices and methods involved in the receipt, investment, cash flow and disbursement of municipal funds. Prospective candidates should have thorough knowledge of the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and its’ statements.
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Public Administration. Certified Public Accountant Preferred. Must have 5-10 years’ experience in municipal finance and supervisory experience.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
