The Town of Danvers welcomes applicants for the full-time, benefited position of Equipment Operator for the DPW Grounds Division. The Town of Danvers is a reputable Town on the North Shore, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for all Town staff, including a commitment to professional development and policies that promote and support a healthy work/life balance. This position is responsible for operating hydraulic equipment and performing landscape construction. This position is primarily responsible for drainage systems, irrigation, and buildings maintenance tasks located in and around forestry areas and other town properties. The Equipment Operator may be responsible for directing small crew, while also working on a piece of equipment.
This is a benefitted, full-time position that works 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday: 7:00AM - 3:00PM). This position earns $24.14/hourly with the ability to move through the pay scale via step system to a maximum of $27.53/hourly.
The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteerism, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required.
High School or trade school diploma required; Associates or Bachelor's Degree is desirable. Two to Three (2-3) years of grounds and/or landscape experience required, to include operation of gas and diesel hydraulic automotive equipment. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, including general knowledge of air brake endorsements, or ability to obtain CDL within eighteen (18) months of hire. Ability to obtain Massachusetts State Pesticide Operator's License within twelve (12) months of hire. Requires a Hydraulics License or the ability to obtain hydraulics license within twelve (12) months of hire. Must complete an OSHA Confined-space Safety course within twelve (12) months of hire. Must complete an Excavation Safety and Competent Person training within twelve (12) months of hire.
