What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Operator Trainee - Will Call (Water/Wastewater) position at Town of Davie?
Under general supervision, performs responsible technical work in the operation of a water or sewer treatment plant on and assigned shift. Is responsible for performing plant operation and maintenance duties in a responsible and professional manner consistent with standard operating practices in order to meet State and Federal standards and rules to protect the public health and environment. Reports to Superintendent of Operations or designee.
REQUIRED:- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Completion of a FDEP approved course in Water/Wastewater plant operation within 6 months of employment.
- Must pass the State of Florida Class "C" Drinking Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certification exam within 12 months of employment.
- Must obtain a Class "C" water or wastewater plant operators license from the Florida Department of Professional Regulation within 18 months of employment.
- Two (2) or more months of experience in the operation of electrical and mechanical machinery similar to that in a water and sewer treatment plant; OR
- College-level coursework from an accredited college or university in a similar related field; OR
- The completion of a FDEP approved course of Volumes I and II for Water or Wastewater Treatment; OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- The selection process will include successfully meeting the minimum requirements of each of the following: an oral assessment, background investigation and a medical examination which includes a drug screening test and physical examination.
- May be required to possess a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an air brake endorsement as issued by the State of Florida and a good driving history.
