Job Summary:
The Conservation and Recreation Director will be responsible for leading and managing the development and implementation of conservation initiatives, ensuring alignment with our Open Space & Trails Master Plan. This role will also involve overseeing trail development, engaging with the community, and securing funding to enhance open space and recreation opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute land acquisition and conservation strategies
- Oversee trail development including planning, maintenance, and improvements in collaboration with developers, agencies, and stakeholders
- Manage the Open Space & Recreation Advisory Committee (OSRAC) and facilitate public meetings
- Secure funding through grants and budget management to enhance open space and recreation opportunities
- Evaluate and implement sustainable land management practices, weed and pest control programs, and habitat restoration initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Parks & Recreation Administration, Natural Resources Management, or a related field
- 4 years of experience in open space, trails management, or land conservation
- 2 years of supervisory experience
