General Description:
This is manual labor work of a skilled nature in conjunction with semiskilled work in operating light and medium duty motor equipment on an assigned basis. Individual is required to be available to plow snow, sand streets and perform standby as needed
Primary Essential Functions:
- Work involves the performance of manual laboring tasks of a specialized nature requiring the application of skills and knowledge ordinarily acquired on the job, as well as the exercise of considerable physical strength and endurance, frequently working for extended periods under adverse weather conditions.
- Work also involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of trucks, motor equipment of light to moderate tonnage and frequently complex construction and maintenance equipment requiring considerable job knowledge and manipulative skill.
- Load/unload trucks and other vehicles by hand or with material handling equipment.
- Services equipment with gas, oil and water; maintains clean and orderly condition of equipment; makes minor or running adjustments and repairs.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the operation of motor equipment. Experience in skilled and heavy manual laboring work. Working knowledge of the use of tools, equipment and materials commonly employed in work performed. Commercial Driver’s License. Class "A" or "B" with Tanker Endorsement. Hoister's License Class "2B" is also a condition of employment. Receipt of a Catch Basin Cleaner “4E” is required within the first 6 months of employment.
