Pine Knoll Day Camp Jr. Counselor
Non-Union – up to 40 hours per week – May 5, 2025 to August 15, 2025
Hourly Range: $15.00 - $16.00

General Description:
The Day Camp Jr. Counselor is responsible for assisting Head Counselors and Counselors as well as other Camp staff in planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. The incumbent will provide high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the values of learning, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Primary Essential Functions:

- Assist in implementation of the daily programs under the head counselor and counselor.
- Lead and assist in preparing a creative environment using recreational enrichment, including the presentation of needed supplies and materials, onsite.
- Supervise participants in all activity areas
- Assist with supervision during swimming. (Must be in water twice a day)
- Advise and communicate with participants in regard to any questions.
- Maintain a professional attitude.
- Communicate with camp staff regarding program activities and events.
- Attend all required Junior Counselor Program meetings and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills:
Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
Experience and Training:
- CPR/First Aid Certification Upon Hire.
- One year of experience volunteering/working with youth ages 3-12, Or successful completion of the Pine Knoll CIT Program.
- Excellent communications skills.
