What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEASONAL BEACH CLERK position at Town of Falmouth, MA?
The Town of Falmouth is currently seeking applicants of at least 16 years of age for Seasonal Beach Clerk positions that work at the Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse, located at 56 Surf Drive in Falmouth. These positions work Memorial Day through Labor Day, 4 days/30 hours per week, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Applicants who cannot commit to a 4-day per week schedule are encouraged to apply and to note their availability in their application. Successful candidates will attend flexible training sessions the week prior to Memorial Day.
Under the direction of the Seasonal Beach Clerk Supervisor, the Seasonal Beach Clerks receive, reconcile, and account for all beach parking permit sticker money; maintain the beach parking permit sticker inventory; answer the Bathhouse office phone; take water wheelchair reservation requests; and perform any other related work as needed.
The Town is willing to train applicants who have no direct experience, but who do have strong computer skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, other employees, and the general public and can work independently and cooperatively with attention to detail.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and must be able to pass a pre-employment CORI criminal background check.
The pay for the first season of employment is $17.91/hour. Depending on qualifications and experience, some successful applicants may be eligible for a higher starting rate of pay.
Successful applicants for this position are eligible for a $200 Retention Bonus to be paid in the last paycheck in August if they meet each of the following requirements:
- Start working for the season on or before Memorial Day weekend; and
- Commit to a schedule of at least 22.5 hours/week; and
- Work, or has coverage for, all scheduled shifts through Monday, August 18, 2025; and
- Submit proof of CPR/First Aid certification to the Beach Superintendent by Friday, June 27, 2025. Successful applicants who are not already certified may obtain a 2-year certification online through the American Red Cross Adult Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED course for a non-reimbursable cost of $37. A direct link to the course registration will be provided to successful applicants in their offer letter.
