Role Overview:
As a Parks, Recreation, and Tourism intern at the Town of Farragut, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and contribute to a key part of our Town. This internship is designed to provide you with exposure to different areas of the Parks and Recreation department, allowing you to develop your skills and gain insight into the day-to-day activities of a municipal recreation and tourism agency. This is an unpaid internship.

This internship is designed to provide you with exposure to different areas of the Parks and Recreation department, allowing you to develop your skills and gain insight into the day-to-day activities of a municipal recreation and tourism agency. Key Responsibilities:
- Special Events Planning: Assist with the planning and implementation of multiple Town of Farragut special events, including but not limited to Chalk the Park, Independence Day Parade, Bluegrass Summer Solstice Concert, Family Campout, and Party in the Park
- Social Media: Gain hands-on experience in planning community engagement plans for Facebook.
- Programming: Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating multiple summer recreation programs
- Special Projects: Develop and execute a unique event, program, or social media campaign before the conclusion of the internship
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, pursuing a degree in a related field such as Recreation and Sport Management, Parks and Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality, or a similar discipline
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities
- Weekend and evening availability, as needed
- Up to between 5-20hrs of experience over a 12-week period
- Hands-on experience in a professional government environment
- Exposure to various aspects of local government operations
