What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Coordinator position at TOWN OF FLORENCE?
The Recreation Coordinator will, plan, organize and implement recreation programs, sports programs, camps, special interest classes and special events ranging from pre-school to seniors. In addition, will oversee all activity at designated locations, and responsible for proper event set-up. The Recreation Coordinator will develop, plan, coordinate and monitor programs, classes and events, as well as, determine program location, transportation (if needed) equipment and supplies, completion of appropriate paperwork and releases; hire, train and supervise staff and volunteers; monitor allocated budget, research and incorporate nationally recognized trends, ideas, and standards, develop policies and procedures to monitor the effectiveness of the programming; ensure safety protocol is followed; collaborate with other cities and agencies; assist in facility management, purchase and care for program equipment.
The Recreation Coordinator will play in a big picture view for the future of the Community Services Department to improve, build and grow the community's recreation service and programs.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Community Recreation, Physical Education or related field, plus two (2) years' experience in coordinating and managing community recreation programs, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the requisite, knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Two (2) years supervisory experience required. three (3) years preferred. Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License. Must have WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Certification within one (1) year of service, if overseeing Aquatic Center.
