What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Intern position at Town of Flower Mound?
Under direct supervision, assists in the management of the Town infrastructure as-built plans database, assist in the update of Town GIS data related to existing Town infrastructure, assist the department's other engineers and inspectors in managing and obtaining information on the Town's infrastructure and in other tasks related to engineering as assigned.• Assists in the management of the Town's infrastructure as-built plans database.
• Posts as-built drawings to the Town's database.
• Work with the GIS department to update the location of new and existing Town infrastructure.
• Assist Town's engineers and inspectors in archiving and retrieving infrastructure information.
• Assists private sector engineers and developers in obtaining information on existing Town infrastructure.
• Assists in the development of street, water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer maps.
• Assist members of the public in obtaining information on existing Town infrastructure and with other general engineering information.
• Performs various administrative and technical support duties to include conducting research and surveys; assembling information, compiling, and analyzing statistical data; preparing various reports; and other special projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager or his designee.
• Operates various types of office and field equipment to include computers, facsimiles, smart level, etc.
• Adheres to personnel, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
• Informs supervisor of all work activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•A High School Diploma, and working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field is required.
•Must have a solid working knowledge of Windows based computers and must have experience with MS Office programs.
•Some AutoCAD experience is preferred.
•Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
•Must have a good knowledge of the principles and concepts pertaining to basic civil engineering; and have good analytical, quantitative, communicative, and public relations skills.
•Must be able to read and understand basic engineering plans, function under general direction, and work independently.
•Must have excellent English oral and written communicative skills to include spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
•Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with citizens, the general public, Town Council, public officials, and employees.
•Must maintain a pleasant personality at all times.
•Must be able to work independently in absence of specific instructions with little or no supervision; work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; prioritize and organize work assignments; and maintain confidentiality of confidential matters.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

•May be subjected to uneven and/or muddy terrain, noise, chemical exposure, and adverse weather conditions.
