The Town of Grafton is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Local Building Inspector. This role involves a combination of administrative, technical, and field inspection responsibilities focused on upholding the Massachusetts State Building Code, local Zoning Bylaws, and other relevant regulations.
Key responsibilities of the position include reviewing and approving plans and building permit applications, conducting inspections of ongoing construction projects to ensure compliance with national, state, and local building codes as well as Grafton Zoning Bylaws. The role also involves issuing certificates of inspection, stop work orders and investigation into complaints related to building code and zoning violations.
Qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's Degree in construction management, design, engineering, architecture, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a master craftsman-level of building construction trades knowledge and a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in building construction or design will also be considered. Candidates must hold a valid MA Construction Supervisor License and Local Inspector Certification.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative professional who can effectively engage with diverse stakeholders such as design professionals, contractors, residents, department heads, staff, and local officials. This is a 35-hour per week position with a salary range of $65,574.00 to $76,039.00 DOQ. Additionally, the successful applicant will receive a vehicle stipend ($4,000.00/year) and a phone stipend ($360.00/year).
