What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adventurers Camp Counselor position at Town of Greenwich, CT?
General Statement of Duties
Leads and supervises participants in program activities, games, and trips. Follows and respects the guidelines provided by the program Directors and Recreation Supervisor.
Participates in pre-season staff training.
Participates in pre-season staff training.
Plans, implements, and participates in all camp activities with a positive attitude.
Leads campers in games, activities, crafts, and field trips.
Serves as a positive role model for all campers and peers.
Responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers throughout the camp program.
Notifies the Directors immediately of any accidents or incidents and provides requested information for documentation.
Executes all emergency procedures with the safety of campers as the first concern.
Enforces the "buddy system" throughout the duration of camp.
Acts in a courteous but firm way when dealing with the participants.
Responsible for proper care and storage of all camp equipment and facilities as assigned.
Assists with the set-up and clean-up for all activities.
Attends weekly staff meetings to review plans, schedules, and address any program highlights or areas for concern.
Assists the Directors and other counselors as needed.
Season: Weekdays starting the end of June until mid-August (7 weeks). Must be available for pre-season training.
Hours: 8:45 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., Approximately 35 hours/week
Qualifications
Must be 17 years of age or older or completed at least junior year of High School. Previous experience working with children preferred. Must have maturity of judgment in everyday situations, patience and understanding with youth, and enthusiasm for the job. Must have the ability to supervise children in all situations including the waterfront and trips. Must be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
