General Statement of Duties
Provide on-site supervision for all confirmed dates and hours for the program. Spring soccer meets for 8 sessions, on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
Organize and implement the on-field soccer operations for all dates and hours of the program; including:
- Set-up and remove all required equipment (goals, extra soccer balls, cones, large white board for field assignments, etc.)
- Post and update field assignments for each age group
- Hand out uniforms to all teams/players on the first day of the program
- Ensure that all teams have a coach on the field
- Keep all groups on schedule by starting and ending games on time
- Respond to participant's questions and concerns
- Provide volunteer coaches with ideas for soccer drills and warm-ups
Qualifications
- Some soccer playing or coaching experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must have or be willing to get certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Parks and Recreation Department can provide training for applicants that require certification or renewal.
- Program runs: Saturday mornings, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM, plus set-up and break down.
- Season: 8 weeks, 4 - 6 hours per week.
Job Description
Responds to all accidents and/or incidents on the field and complete the required report(s).
Follows through on communication protocol with the Recreation Supervisor for all accidents and/or incidents.
Provides supervision and direction to the hired soccer instructors. Assigns the instructors to assist the volunteer coaches and fills in where needed.
Works with coaches to role model and implement good sportsmanship. Serves as a resource to the coaches and addresses questions or concerns.
Attends and assists in the planning and implementation of the coaches' meeting, to be held prior to the start of the program.
Assists the Recreation Supervisor in pre-planning for soccer to be conducted 2-3 weeks prior to the start of the program. Includes: review of registration forms, creation of teams, develop agenda items for the coaches' meeting, confirm hired soccer instructors, organization of equipment and apparel, and any other required pre-work for the successful start of soccer.
Provides coordination and assistance with any other additional services offered in the program, such as photo day, handing out of awards/medals, or other special events.
Communicates weekly with the Recreation Supervisor to provide updates on the program, such as participant questions and feedback, performance of soccer instructors, confirmed hours worked for each instructor, and any other important information relating to the soccer program.
