The Byram Archibald Neighborhood Center (BANC) After School Program is a State Licensed Childcare Center that dedicates itself to the surrounding community by nurturing children in their social and emotional growth and provides them with an opportunity to explore the world through play, education and interaction with other children. The program serves 90 children ages 5-12 years old in grades Kindergarten through Third grade, who reside in the Byram community and who attend New Lebanon Elementary School.
This position is scheduled to work during the 10-month school year.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma; plus two (2) years of experience working with school-aged children in a childcare or other related setting such as school, camp or after school program. Bilingual (Spanish) language skills preferred. Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old and will be required to complete a State of CT background check and fingerprinting.
Must be available to work during program hours: Monday-Friday from 2:00pm-6:00pm.

Demonstrated knowledge of child development theories and practices and social, educational and recreational activities.
Demonstrated ability to adhere to the Office of Early Childhood and State of CT Childcare Statues and Regulations.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of a personal computer.

Reports to: Youth Program Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises all staff and maintains the day to day operations of the program in collaboration with or in absence of the Youth Program Administrator.
Provides child-care and supervision to school aged children and ensures staff to student ratios are maintained.
Assists with communicating with parents/families regarding program matters.
Collaborates with Program Administrator in planning and coordinating program responsibilities.
Adheres to and enforces all BANC and State of CT Office of Early Childhood Childcare Licensing policies and procedures.
Maintains accurate documentation of all BANC records in accordance with the Office of Early Childhood.
Communicates daily with the Program Administrator, staff and parents/families regarding any concerns or issues.
Assists in maintaining program budget with supply orders and ensures program supplies are replenished when needed.
Implement behavior management techniques as needed.
Attend in-service trainings and other trainings as required by the Office of Early Childhood
Supports Town’s policies and philosophies.
Performs other related work as assigned.
