What are the responsibilities and job description for the Highway Maintenance Worker position at Town of Groveland Highway Department?
The Town of Groveland is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Maintenance Worker in the Highway Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment to perform snow plowing, driving town vehicles, and operating heavy machinery for various road maintenance tasks. Preference will be given to those who live in a 15 mile radius of the highway department.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must maintain a valid NYS Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Thorough knowledge of and the ability to operate assigned vehicles and equipment in a safe manner according to public traffic laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and the safety precautions necessary for the proper operation and use of assigned vehicles, equipment, tools and materials.
- Knowledge of techniques utilized in shaping road ditches, installing drainage structures, excavation operations, skilled operation of a variety of equipment such as, but not limited to, tandem or single axle trucks, front end loaders, tractors, dozers, motor-graders as necessary in the maintenance and construction activities of the town.
Pay: $24-$27/hour, based on experience
