The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Community Risk Reduction Specialist to support our Fire Rescue Department’s efforts in promoting and educating the community on risk reduction and fire and life safety initiatives.
What You Will Do
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Community Risk Reduction Specialist to support our Fire Rescue Department’s efforts in promoting and educating the community on risk reduction and fire and life safety initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Interact with civic organizations, community leaders, and schools to determine community needs identified in the Community Risk Assessment (CRA); determines Community Risk Reduction educational priorities, goals, and objectives and develops related implementation strategies
- Compile and interpret data for the Community Risk Assessment and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and documentation of public education activities and maintains appropriate files
- Identify, modify, implement, evaluate, and prioritize educational programs to address the needs of target audiences and station planning zones
- Prepare, select, and/or create appropriate materials and methods to reach selected audiences effectively
- Evaluate the effectiveness of community risk reduction and fire and life safety classes in response to audience attendance, program evaluations, instruction methods
- Deliver educational programs and/or instruct Line personnel or other Town staff in delivering educational programs, reviews current publications and media for ideas and resources
- Publish fire and life safety information in a variety of media
- Plan and execute fire drills and advises property owners and/or managers of methods to improve life safety evacuation plans
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Driver’s license
- Certified Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instructor through the American Heart Association
- Completion of department requirements for Fire & Life Safety Training within one year of employment
