What are the responsibilities and job description for the POLICE RECORDS SPECIALIST position at Town of Hope Mills?
- Serves as the agency’s primary Division of Criminal Information (DCI) operator performing all DCI transactions
- Performs clerical work including typing, proofreading, filing, coding, checking and recording information and records
- Checks and tabulates statistical data and other activity summaries
- Processes, arranges, and files manual and computer police records according to established routine and sequence, such records will include criminal investigative files, arrest reports, citations and warning tickets, criminal and traffic inquiries, investigative documents and others as required
- Serves as department’s public-facing, first point of administrative contact assisting the public and other agencies and providing and receiving information and directing inquiries to the proper destinations
- Answers telephones, relays messages, receive and refer complaints, provide a variety of information regarding department procedures
- Makes copies of records and reports to various personnel within the police department and for insurance companies
- Performs other related duties as required
- High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in general clerical and data entry work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of or ability to acquire D.C.I. certification within one year of hire
- Must pass all pre-employment background and drug tests

General knowledge of police programs, policies and procedures
Ability to perform a considerable volume of detailed record work
Ability to maintain files

Ability to follow written and oral directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public

Overtime Compensation Agreement
Consistent with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, it is the town’s policy to compensate non-exempt employees for overtime work with compensatory time off or overtime pay. As part of the acceptance of any offer of employment with the Town, employees in non-exempt positions agree to accept, at the discretion of the town, either compensatory time off or overtime pay, as appropriate compensation for overtime work that may be required to perform as an employee of the Town of Hope Mills.

Conditions of Employment
Employment with the Town of Hope Mills is at-will and is conditional meaning it may be contingent upon the completion of pre-employment screenings, to include a drug test, criminal history, verification of education and/or employment and professional references.
Salary : $39,820 - $59,730
