What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECREATION LEADER (PART-TIME) position at Town of Hope Mills?
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of HMPR services offered while providing excellent customer service including basic policy enforcement such as guidelines for daily operations and rentals.
- Uphold the integrity and reputation of The Town of Hope Mills by providing exemplary customer service and leadership to staff members, supervisors, participants, parents, and visitors.
- Monitor entrance to the Hope Mills Recreation Center to ensure participants are eligible for general facility usage.
- Promote and educate HMPR services to individuals in person and over the phone.
- Adapt and accommodate a large spectrum of customer personality styles.
- Access injuries, disputes, inappropriate behavior, and any other serious issues and if necessary, notify appropriate first responders, followed by immediately notifying emergency personnel, and the Operations Supervisor of the occurrence. Use appropriate forms to report all accidents and incidents.
- Retrieve and document information from answered phoned calls and voicemails to communicate effectively with the appropriate person or division it involves.
- Observe activities throughout the facility to enforce daily schedules, monitor participants, and renters to ensure facilities are being used safely.
- Observe designated work areas throughout each shift to ensure they are kept clean and neat.
- Record and document lost/found items.
- Collect and discard any out-of-date flyers around the assigned work station.
- Utilize point of sale software to efficiently execute tasks associated with the current Town of Hope Mills adopted fee schedule, collect the cash and receipt that corresponds with the transaction.
- Receive feedback and evaluations from the Operations Supervisor related to performances, skills, and be receptive to suggestions as it pertain to the job duties.
- In absence of full-time staff, open and close recreation facilities.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be available evenings and weekends and between 13.5 - 18 hours per week
- Must pass background and drug screening
- Community, senior or group recreation a plus.
- CPR and First Aid Certified, or able to obtain upon hire.
- Use a computer and navigate software program
- Maintain a positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills
- Work independently and as part of a team

Overtime Compensation Agreement
Consistent with the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, it is the town’s policy to compensate non-exempt employees for overtime work with compensatory time off or overtime pay. As part of the acceptance of any offer of employment with the Town, employees in non-exempt positions agree to accept, at the discretion of the town, either compensatory time off or overtime pay, as appropriate compensation for overtime work that may be required to perform as an employee of the Town of Hope Mills.

Conditions of Employment
Employment with the Town of Hope Mills is at-will and is conditional meaning it may be contingent upon the completion of pre-employment screenings, to include a drug test, criminal history, verification of education and/or employment and professional references.
