Parks & Recreation Athletics Intern
Rate of Pay: $12.00/Hour
Description
The Southern Pines Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic intern to join our athletics team. Our department consists of 5 areas to include Recreation Programs, Seniors, Athletics, Aquatics and Special Events. We are seeking someone who can participate in various projects and activities at any given time, with the primary focus being athletics.
This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the intern having gained broad experience of the Athletics division.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and organizing Athletic programs
- Assist with marketing various Athletic programs and events to include developing media content
- Oversee and provide supervision and coordination of specific Athletic programs to include: basketball, baseball, tennis, pickleball and special events
- Assist with budget/program tracking data via excel spreadsheets
- Scheduling of various activities
- Management of part-time staff
Requirements
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college or university in recreation administration, physical education, sports management or a related field.
- Valid/Current drivers license
- Flexible
- Driven and hard-working
- Ability to take direction and multi-task
- Highly dependable in various settings
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
*CPR certification preferred, but not required
Compensation & work hours
- $12/hour
- 40 hrs/week (nights and weekends)
