Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher - Long Term Substitute
(February 26, 2025 - March 27, 2025)
Teach middle school social studies curriculum as indicated in the LPS Learning Expectations for History and Social Studies document;
• Embed the History Reading and Writing standards of the English Language Arts Curriculum Standards into social studies lessons;
• Plan and implement engaging social studies lessons using a variety of effective research-based instructional strategies;
• Differentiate lessons using strategies and materials that address a variety of academic, language, social, emotional, and physical abilities;
• Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications as outlined in student learning plans (e.g. IEP, 504, BCAP, and ISSP);
• Administer standards-based formative and summative assessments, including grade-level common assessments and use resulting data to inform instructional curricular decisions;
• Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects;
• Communicate with parents/guardians and students about student progress and needs;
• Meet with team teachers, counselors, and administrators regularly to discuss student progress;
• Maintain accurate and thorough student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations;
• Follow all administration policies and rules governing students;
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competency;
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required;
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
