The Town of Marana is seeking Recreation Aides to work in the Parks and Recreation Department. This is a short-term temporary position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in having a direct impact on promoting Marana to become a premier destination for business and leisure as well as outdoor enthusiasts.

Pursuant to the Marana Town Code, Sections 3-1-2(D) and 3-1-3(B), and the current Salary Schedule implemented by the Town Manager, the position of Recreation Aide is defined as an Unclassified position. Â Unclassified positions are at-will employees and employment that may be terminated upon the will of the employer or employee at any time with or without cause. Â

Hiring Rate:Â $15.00 per hour
Returning Marana employees may be eligible for a $0.25/hour increase for each returning year up to a maximum pay rate of $16.00/hour.
Recreation Aides provide support to recreation staff to ensure the best delivery of recreation programs. Work will be performed on youth sports programs, recreational programs, community events, and youth camps. Schedules will vary by program area with hours during daytime, evening and holidays.Â

- Leads assigned recreation programs; prepares and sets up program activities; maintains facilities and equipment; performs other duties related to conducting programs.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Performs light administrative work by completing documents; files, makes and receives phone calls regarding programs.

- Assists in sports programs, recreational activities, and Town-wide special events.
- Leads youth camps in both indoor and outdoor settings as part of a collaborative team.Â
- Assists in maintaining order in compliance with established rules or leagues and sports programs and ensure safety of participants.
- Officiates youth flag football games, ensuring punctuality and professionalism when engaging with coaches, parents, fellow officials, and participants.
Center Operations (Preferred Availability: Weekdays, nights & weekends)
- Provides excellent customer service, communicate effectively and courteously
- Assists customers with payments; resolves issues and inquiriesÂ
- Provides administrative support to Parks and Recreation staff
- Assist with programs and as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age at time of application submission
- Must pass fingerprint clearance background check
- Must pass the Town of Marana background check
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months experience working as a recreation aide, sports official or in a closely related field in multiple settings with different age groups.
