Seasonal Park Technician
Town of Monument:

Position Summary:
This position performs outdoor maintenance activities such as: erosion control, patching potholes, repairing, installing street signs and banners, storm water system maintenance, emptying trash, painting facilities, weed control, pruning trees, removing trees as necessary, park improvements, playground maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
Working hours are generally from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Employment will be approximately from May 20, 2023, till early August 2023

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine ground maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, pruning, to keep park grounds neat and attractive.
• Clear debris, repair erosion and ensuring proper signage and maintenance of Town trails and parks.
• Assist with the upkeep of park buildings, restrooms, picnic areas and other facilities by cleaning, small repairs, and restocking supplies as needed.
• Assist with special events within the parks including set-up and clean up as needed.
• Operate equipment needed to perform ground maintenance safely and efficiently.
• Demonstrate the knowledge needed to aid with park maintenance and landscape maintenance.
• Understand and adhere to the safety rules provided for the position.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Show initiative.
• Work with Town staff to cultivate friendly manner and create effective working relationships.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience Required:
• Must be at least 16 years of age to apply.
• Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Demands:
This position requires a moderated degree of physical stamina and strength, including the ability to:
• Frequently sit, stand and walk on uneven terrain.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for manipulation; light to firm grasp.
• Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally sit, stand, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
• Occasionally step up or down to enter and exit vehicles, occasionally climb ladders.
Work Environment:

This position requires detailed work that can be under-changing intensive deadlines on multiple concurrent tasks.
