RESIDENTIAL/ASSISTANT BUILDING INSPECTOR
Position requires skills and knowledge generally acquired with graduation from high school, vocational school, or completion of apprenticeship training program in a construction skill and three to five years experience as a Residential Building Inspector. Must have Residential Building Official certification and a valid Driver’s License. Ideal applicant will provide a high quality of consistent service to the engineering, architectural and construction community and other citizens through enforcement and application of building codes, special use permits and other town ordinances. An Electrical background is preferred but not mandatory. The individual will inspect construction, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work, as assigned; analyze and evaluate building plans, including location, design materials, construction methods, and health and safety measures of residential projects; perform field inspections of construction work to assure compliance with code and regulations; and assist public to modify building plans or to take corrective action to comply with code and/or regulations.
Background investigation required. Salary range is $109,000 – $116,000 depending on qualifications. Equal opportunity employer M/F/D/V.
