What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer - Pool Slide Dispatcher position at Town of Normal?
Slide Dispatchers are responsible for sending riders down the slides at safe intervals while enforcing applicable facility and slide rules with all patrons (such as height restrictions). The working season for this position is Memorial Day through Labor Day.
-Watch the feature to determine when a rider has exited the slide or watch for visual signals from lifeguard below
-Communicate with patron that the slide & catch pool below are clear and it is safe to ride down
-Prevent riders from entering the slide before it is safe
-Stop dispatch and sound air horn alarm in the event of an emergency
-Must acquire thorough understanding of slide & facility rules and be comfortable enforcing them
-Must be able to politely and effectively communicate with patrons
-Comfortable sitting or standing for extended periods of time
-Slide Dispatchers are scheduled to rotate between the Fairview Family Aquatic Center and the Anderson Aquatic Center throughout the week
-Staff must have transportation to work at either aquatic facility
No previous experience or training is required. This is an excellent position for entry-level work experience. Must be 16 years or older due to working on elevated slide platforms.
