What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Adventure Camp Counselor position at Town of Normal?
This position will be responsible for supervising/leading Teens in an activity/field trip packed camp, all summer long (early June-early August). Camp is held Monday-Thursday (no weekends required!).
Examples of Work Performed:
-Assist with planning daily activities and field trips
-Participate in all camp activities. Examples: kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, challenge courses, scavenger hunts, team competitions, etc.
-Interact with teens when they are in activities outside and in the swimming pool
-Take daily attendance and daily sign out records
-Assist teens with craft activities
-Assist with keeping storage areas clean and organized
-Drive a 15-passenger van on various trips
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-The ability to interact well with teens age 12-15 years of age
-Enjoy working with teens and participating in outdoor activities
-Good communication skills and the ability to work well with peers and director
-Good driving record
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience working in organized children's or teen's program. Certified in CPR/AED (classes offered by NPRD as needed). Preferred age is 19 years and older.
