Distinguishing Characteristics of the Class: Performs as a beach liaison for the Town, providing excellent customer service to beach visitors. Beach Ambassadors are part-time, seasonal employees that spend their time driving or walking the beach strand. Beach Ambassadors will interact with and educate visitors on beach ordinances, observe and report violations to law enforcement officers, and report beach and park maintenance issues to Public Works employees.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Tasks: -Patrol the beach strand in a non-sworn capacity.-Observe/report violations of Town ordinances and North Carolina state laws.-Engage with visitors in a friendly and professional manner.-Attempt to educate visitors about Town ordinances related to the beach and parks.-Help maintain a positive beach going experience for visitors by answering questions and addressing concerns or seeking assistance when the scope of the question or concern is of outside the job knowledge area.Additional Job Duties: -Performs related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements: -Must be able to work outdoors during the Summer months when temperatures and weather can vary.-Must be able to stand and walk on sand.-Must be able to perform the basic functions of sight, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, talking, and hearing.-Must possess the visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.-Must be able to perform work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force.Desirable Education and Experience: -Graduation from high schoolSpecial Requirement: -NC driver's license-At least 18 years of age
