Job Title: Recreation Assistant
A recreation assistant is responsible for the overall monitoring of Ocean Bowl Skate Park and Bayside Park, including fields, tennis/pickleball courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, and restrooms. The position involves front-line interaction with the public, both physically and on the telephone. Cash handling, data entry, routine maintenance, and report preparation are integral parts of the job.
Job Duties:
The following essential duties and responsibilities are included in this position: Other duties may be assigned.
•Assists in the operation of Ocean Bowl Skate Park and Bayside Park to include: program operation and supervision, maintenance of facility, rule enforcement, answering phones, assisting public, cash accounting and deposit preparation, receipting and registering daily entrants, memberships, rentals and events, data entry, facility security, first aid administration, program set up and breakdown.
•Stocks and maintains first aid supplies, performs minor first aid as needed
•Assists in maintaining inventory of rental equipment and sales merchandise
•Assists in implementing recreational activities at skate park to fill the needs of the community
•Assists in the evaluation and improvement of programs and services
•Inspects facility on daily basis for maintenance needs
•Performs daily maintenance including but not limited to trash pick-up, cleaning of facility in and around the park including designated bathroom, office, skate area, observation area, resting area, basketball courts, tennis/pickleball courts, park area.
•Assists in marketing and promoting of facility
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for addressing complaints and resolving problems within the scope of responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
An individual must have a high school diploma or GED to perform this job successfully. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification. Valid driver's license required.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to think and act quickly and remain calm under emergency situations. Must be able to make decisions promptly and work unsupervised. Must have working knowledge of computers and must be able to work within our point of sale system. Must have knowledge of the skating industry.
