Expected Hiring Range:  $44,779 - $50,376
Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications
 

The work hours for this position are from noon - 8:30 PM.  Shift differential is paid for hours worked after 6 PM.

Are you looking for IT opportunities that challenge you? If so, the Town of Oro valley is looking for you. We have an immediate opening for an IT Helpdesk Technician who will join the Town’s IT Operations division. The ideal candidate will provide courteous, top notch IT support to all Town departments in a wide-ranging role that includes both office and field work. We have a modern IT environment that is evolving and growing with the Town’s needs. Familiarity or experience with Microsoft Teams and Zoom are required. 


Under general supervision, provides technical support for Audio-Visual (AV) meetings, software, hardware, operating systems, mobile devices, and other common office user devices and/or peripherals.

 

  • Provides audiovisual and technical support for all Town Council sessions, Board and Commission meetings, and other online meetings.
  • Provides technical support to staff, including installing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
  • Builds, installs and maintains computers and operating systems.
  • May work with law enforcement and vendors to manage security threats and identify remediation steps.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Skill in facilitating and supporting online meetings using Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Ability to support elected and executive staff in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Skill in analyzing computer systems to identify problems, developing logical conclusions and effective system or program solutions.
  • Skill in hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop computers, laptop computers, and associated common office peripherals (monitors, USB devices, printers, etc).
  • Responsible for answering helpdesk calls and provide on-site support to town staff.
  • Skill working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Skill in supporting current Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Sharepoint.
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory Users and Computers in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of certain telecom hardware, such as phones, fax machines, intercoms, and conference systems.
  • Knowledge of the basics of e-mail systems.
  • Ability to analyze IT problems and to arrive at workable solutions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with users, associate personnel and department management in a responsive, helpful, courteous and tactful manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing and to document work performed.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to the use of computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities including climbing ladders, lifting and carrying heavy objects.
 
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in analyzing computer systems to identify problems, developing logical conclusions and effective system or program solutions.
  • Two (2) years’ experience with hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop and portable computers.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in support of current Microsoft Office applications including Teams.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Individual must be judged acceptable based on Arizona Criminal Justice Information System background check and a screening by the Oro Valley Police Department.
  • Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.

Salary : $43,901 - $54,876
