This position is responsible for handling various administrative tasks, including record keeping, election management, and database management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize duties.
Responsibilities:
- Manage official records and documents, including town meeting and election records.
- Coordinate and execute all phases of primaries and elections.
- Transmit required election data to the State Secretary.
- Transmit amendments to Charter, General and Zoning by-laws to the Attorney General.
- Maintain official Municipal Legislation books.
- Administer oaths of office.
- Issue licenses, permits, and certifications.
- Maintain the Business Database.
- Register Voters through the Town computer system and the State Central Voter Registry.
- Prepare and process the annual town census.
- Time stamp and post meeting notices of Boards/Committees/Commissions.
- Assist with filing and tracking numerous documents.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and other municipal departments.
- Perform functions pertaining to vital records & statistics, including genealogy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or 5-7 years of experience in municipal government or related field.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws and Town regulations pertinent to the Town Clerk's Office.
- Notary public certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire date.
- Availability to work nights and weekends.
