What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (PT) position at Town of Parker?
Under general supervision, this position is responsible fordirect and constant pool surveillance, provides emergency response to drowning and medical events, enforces all safety rules and regulations, and ensures a safe and fun swimming environment for all patrons. Â
Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Requires the ability to swim and effectively complete a variety of in-water maneuvers during a pre-employment screening.Â
Possession of or the ability to obtain a Starguard Elite Lifeguarding Certification, or equivalent lifeguarding certification, Basic Life Support and First Aid Certification, or an equivalent in-house course within thirty (30) days of hire.

Requires reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Requires moderate to vigorous physical activity with heavy lifting, up to one hundred (100) pounds, including the pulling or lifting of a limp body. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision.Â
Every employee in this position should assume that strenuous physical activity in saving a patron's life may be required.Â
Environment
Work is frequentlyperformed at an indoor or outdoor pool with exposure to high levels of humidity and the varying temperatures. The noise level is usually high and may range from moderate to extreme. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals, or radiant energy.

- This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Town's policies*
- Provides direct, constant and uninterrupted swimming pool and patron surveillance to the assigned zone of coverage.
- Recognizes, responds to and provides necessary emergency care within limits of training and the Facility Emergency Action Plan (FEAP) to persons in distress, in the pool and facility.This includes administering CPR, emergency oxygen and the use of an AED to protect and/or preserve life.Â
- Enforces facility rules, regulations and the patron code of conduct in a calm and professional manner.
- Participates in a minimum of four (4) hours of continuing education/in-service training each month. Â
- Reports all rescues, accidents, incidents to the Manager on Duty as soon as possible; completes accurate reports in a timely manner.Â
- Performs daily safety inspections of pool facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patrons.Â
- Performs shift-based cleaning and basic maintenance of pool facilities.Â
- Participates in a variety of drills and audits to ensure compliance with Facility and Starguard Elite standards.Â
- Utilizes effective written and verbal communication techniques to communicate with Town of Parker staff, management, and the public in a positive and professional manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.Â
