JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARYPositions assigned to this class are responsible for developing, writing, and/or coordinating the Town’s marketing efforts, establishing and implementing publicity plans for environmentally focused outreach events, projects and campaigns, coordinating signage and printed materials, and monitoring and measuring data to evaluate progress towards goals. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis is a fully qualified, experienced level communications and marketing classification in the communications and marketing job family. Incumbent(s) performs the full range of communications/marketing support duties under general supervision. Classification requires solid knowledge of transactional and/or work standards for completing tasks and assignments of a varied nature. Work may vary from basic to more complex duties and issues but are generally within expected parameters.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs. Plans, organizes, and implements Town special events and activities relating to assigned programs; develops new and innovative approaches to outreach strategies; works on multiple projects simultaneously.Collaborates with residents, public and private agencies and other stakeholders in developing goals and priorities in implementing assigned programs.Generates creative copy for marketing materials and community outreach, including brochures, newsletters, social media, signage, etc.;Coordinates a variety of signage calendars, editorial calendars, graphic design schedules, etc.Monitors and analyzes programs by designing data collection forms such as audits, checklists and questionnaires and other tools to measure program success.Works with the members of assigned department to communicate timely information through the media; coordinates electronic and digital media activities, generate special event and workshop advertising needs; coordinates sponsor/vendor solicitations; and works through the special event application processes.Participates in the creation and design of marketing campaign materials for assigned programs and special events; updates the applicable sections of the Town’s website; creates and implements publicity plans for all applicable outreach campaigns and events.Educates the community by representing the applicable programs at neighborhood association meetings, educational conferences, workshops, and seminars; plans events and conducts presentations for audiences of all ages.Prepares marketing material/collateral materials, incorporating graphic design techniques.Provides related department support activities.Performs related work as assigned.
