- Hiring Bonus/Incentive pay of $7,500 for Professional staff (All hiring bonuses are listed as the net-pay you will receive):

- For the Police Professional staff, at the time of hire you will receive a one-time addition of 80 hours of vacation and 80 hours of sick time.
- Vacation and sick time biweekly accruals at the normal rates for new hires.
- Education Bonus (if applicable)
- A one-time bonus for education/earned degree payable after successful completion of your probation.
- The degree must be from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice studies, social sciences, business management, leadership, forensic science, psychology, or other degree related to the core functions of your position.
- The degree must be earned/awarded prior to your hire date. If you earn a degree following your hire date, you may qualify for a different educational incentive provided by the Town. More information will be provided during your initial orientation.
- If you have earned multiple degrees, you will receive the incentive specified for the highest degree earned/presented that relates to your core functions of your position.
- The incentive is as follows:
- Associate Degree: $500
- Bachelor Degree: $1,000
- Masters (or higher): $1,500
- Moving Expenses (if applicable)
- If a police department employee moves to within 30 miles of the Town borders after receiving a final offer of employment, that individual may be eligible for a one-time payment of potential expenses.
- Guidelines for this payment are as follows:
- In-state (Arizona) move under 90 miles: $250
- In-state (Arizona) move over 90 miles: $500
- Out-of-state move: $3,000
- Travel Reimbursement (if applicable)
- We will reimburse travel costs related to testing activities that occur after you have received a conditional offer letter. Must keep all receipts.

JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Positions assigned to this class are responsible for performing a variety of crime and intelligence analysis activities to include the collection, analysis, interpretation, dissemination, and integration of crime, staffing, deployment, performance, and other related quantitative/qualitative data in support of patrol, investigative, crime prevention, and Real Time Information Center (RTIC) operations. This position may be embedded in specific units, assigned to specific projects, and/or allocated to the Real-Time Information Center (RTIC).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified, experienced-level professional staff classification in the public safety support job family. Incumbent(s) perform the full range of support duties under general supervision. The classification requires solid knowledge of Law Enforcement cases and data analysis. Work may vary from basic to more complex duties and issues but is generally within expected parameters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following is intended to describe the core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time.
- Conducts research and crime analysis to identify crime patterns and trends.
- Analyzes tactical crime data, criminal intelligence data, long-term crime patterns and trends using computerized applications, random statistical samples, correlation and regression analysis, and probability studies.
- Develops links regarding pattern detection, crime and criminals, terrorists, organized crime, social and demographic factors within communities, and related information.
- Assists detectives and officers with information gathering, data collection, development of investigative leads, and reporting activities in support of ongoing investigations.
- Updates and tracks department gang and intelligence files.
- Prepares maps, charts, graphs, and reports indicating criminal trends and recommends solutions to reduce crime.
- Develops and prioritizes problem areas, top offenders, and crime projects and recommends strategies for allocating resources.
- Performs various studies, including, but not limited to, feasibility studies, needs assessments, cost/benefit analysis, cross-impact analysis and management studies, and enforcement program evaluations, to support department functions and provide recommendations for effective resource allocation.
- Provides case support to the various investigative units within the department by developing investigative leads, analyzing phone records, collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, and gathering intelligence on possible suspects using a variety of law enforcement and open-source databases to aid in case resolution and criminal apprehension.
- Responds to inter/intradepartmental ad hoc requests for police data and assists the Records Unit with statistical data in response to public records requests.
- Creates various work products such as crime bulletins, officer safety bulletins, warrant bulletins, and phone record animations for dissemination. Some of the products may be introduced as evidence and require the analyst to testify in court.
- Collaborates with other law enforcement agencies and monitors regional, state, national, and worldwide trends or news to promote information sharing and perform risk assessments for their potential effect on the Town of Queen Creek.
- Collaborates with various department levels by presenting at and/or attending monthly crime meetings, patrol and investigations briefings, ride-a-longs, training, and other intra-agency collaborations to maintain strong partnerships within the department and build unit legitimacy.
- Performs all functions of the Real Time Information Center Specialists as needed to support the Center’s mission.
- Completes special tasks or performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Justice Studies, Social Science, or a related field and two (2) years of experience performing tactical and/or intelligence crime analysis in a law enforcement setting which includes compiling data, analyzing findings, and writing reports; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Experience using software related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Business Intelligence (BI), statistical analysis, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), and working with a law enforcement agency of comparable size or larger is preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid AZ Driver’s License.
- Level A Terminal Operator Certification (from the Department of Public Safety) within six (6) months of hire or promotion date.
Special Requirements:
- Must complete a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history check and a polygraph examination.
