Supervisor
The immediate supervisor for this employee shall be the Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
Nature of Work
This is varied, complex, and responsible administrative and financial work assisting the Town Clerk in the collection of various monies and in the execution of the legal responsibilities of the above positions. This employee will have considerable contact with general public. Work is performed with considerable independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Town Clerk/Tax Collector/Registrar with:
Validating official documents
Posting of official notices
Maintenance of records of births, deaths, marriages and burials Issues certified copies of same and performs other duties as required such as paternal acknowledgments, adoptions and other related vital records.
Collecting all monies and revenues for town and records payments of same, preparing daily audit of transactions and forwards money to the Town Treasurer.
Issues various licenses, such as hunting, fishing, and dog.
Maintains all related records and prepares State reports as required.
Processing motor vehicle, all terrain vehicle, boat, and snowmobile registrations
Collecting money for real estate and personal property taxes. Maintains records and provides information on same.
Waits on public, answers telephones, answers inquiries or directs callers to the appropriate person, and takes messages for same in a friendly and professional manner.
Accepts voter registrations, certifies petitions, validates nomination papers, maintains the voter registration database and absentee ballots.
Assists the Town Clerk/Tax Collector in all capacities and serves in those capacities in the absence of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector. Performs all other duties of the named positions as required by the Board of Selectmen.
Requirements of Work
Thorough knowledge and understanding of State statutes relating to the duties for the positions outlined above. Experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate. Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and equipment. Proficient in the use of adding machine, photocopier and computer. Must have a willingness to learn the use of new equipment, adapt to new techniques, and seek out ways to provide more efficient service. Must be able to perform clerical duties including proficient in speaking, understanding, and communicating in the English language and legible handwriting in English. Ability to establish and maintain amiable working relationships, interact and communicate with other Town officials, employees and the general public, including providing high quality and courteous service to the citizens of the Town. Ability to maintain records and prepare necessary reports. Ability to understand and follow the laws and regulations governing the activities of the above positions and will keep abreast of changing State laws and regulations. This may include travel (in-state) for training opportunities, which may include an overnight stay occasionally. Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods times.

Thursday 4pm-7pm
1st and 3rd Saturday 9am-Noon

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
