Job Title: Part-Time Firefighter/EMT
Hourly Rate of Pay: $14.00
The Town of Southern Pines is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to serve as Part-Time Firefighters/EMTs with the Southern Pines Fire Department. This vital role involves protecting life and property through fire suppression, prevention, and emergency response.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergencies to combat, extinguish, and prevent fires.
- Operate fire and rescue equipment effectively during emergency incidents.
- Perform routine care and maintenance of fire stations, firefighting equipment, and associated facilities.
- Use independent judgment when responding to emergencies, following established standards and procedures.
- Work under strenuous conditions, including extreme heat, smoke, and confined spaces.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- North Carolina Firefighter Certification.
- North Carolina EMT-B Certification.
- Preferred:
- NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification.
- Technical Rescuer Certification NFPA 1006 (2013).
- Confined Space and Trench Rescue Certifications.
Selection Process:
Qualified applicants must:
- Successfully complete the departments physical agility test.
- Pass a written general knowledge test.
- Undergo a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
