The Town of Waterford is searching for an Administrative Assistant for the Finance Department. This is a full-time, 35 hr/week, position with excellent benefits.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide administration and coordination functions in support of the Director of Finance.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS *:

  • Manage statistical financial reports and correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain filing system.
  • Answer telephone, give information or route calls.
  • Read and route mail, locate files for correspondence.
  • Categorize and prepare receipts for deposit.
  • Perform all administrative duties for the Retirement Commission.
  • Perform all administrative duties for the Director of Finance and Department staff.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for liability, auto and property insurance claims, processing claims paperwork as required.
  • Act as Payroll and Accounts Payable backup as needed.
  • Update reports, agenda’s, and meeting minutes for Board of Finance. Attend Board of Finance meetings and update meeting minutes on Town website
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skill & Ability)

Knowledge of office procedures, office computer programs and equipment; good Administrative skills; must possess the ability to type proficiently, to exercise good judgment, and deal effectively with the public, co-workers and Town officials.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

Graduation from business school or two (2) year college course with emphasis on business, accounting, finance or related field and four (4) years of comprehensive experience in an office setting or an equivalent combination.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The dexterity necessary to utilize a computer keyboard on a regular basis is essential. Attend night meetings as required. The employee must be able to work harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
