Examples of Duties

• Officiate at volleyball games to maintain standards of play and ensure game rules are observed.
• Attend assigned games consistently with limited personal time off.
• Arrive twenty (20) minutes prior to the 1st scheduled game to set-up volleyball standards, nets and score panel.
• Signal game start/end times.
• Keep track of scores.
• Resolve complaints or claims of infractions by participants and assess proper action required.
• Direct participants to assigned areas.
• Confer with coaches, players and facility managers to provide information, coordinate activities and discuss issues.
• Teach and explain established rules and regulations governing volleyball, if necessary.
• Verify eligibility of players and equipment.
• Report any complaints, or other disciplinary actions taken to the Park & Recreation Supervisor.
• Submit reports as required and keep records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a volleyball official preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of the rules and regulations of adult volleyball league.
• A minimum of at least 2 years of active league play preferred.
• Ability to resolve conflict in a professional, polite, equitable manner.
• Ability to work independently.
• A demonstrated history of excellent work attendance.
• Minimum Age Requirement: Anyone 21 years of age and older as of March 17, 2025.

Supplemental Information

Shift: Weeknights (after 5:30pm). Typically Monday - Thursday evenings. This position is seasonal (late March through mid-May). Approximately 7-8 weeks.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $19.00 per hour.
