Position Overview
This position is responsible for working under and being supervised by the Recreation Director while coordinating and executing camp at various locations for daily summer camp programs. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, planning daily camp activities, setting up field trips, hiring Camp Counselors, registering campers, executing activities, programs, games and clean up. Camp Directors report directly to the Recreation Director. This is a position within the Town’s Recreation Department. The Summer Camp Director performs the planning and day-to-day administration of our day camps recreation program. They design camp day to day schedule, activities, field trips and oversee camp employees and campers. The Camp Director is responsible for proper planning, hiring, supervising, and monitoring camp expenses. Their duties also include hiring and training camp staff members. Incumbents may not perform all of the essential functions listed below, as they are based on their specific assignment.
· Creates a safe, clean environment for staff, campers and guests to operate in.
· Effectively communicates camp expectations with parents and families.
· Timely communication to parents and families regarding schedule changes and cancellations.
· Provides coordination of daily activities, assistance to all staff and campers as needed.
· Stays up to date with State and DEM COVID guidance that pertains to camp and communicates this to families.
· Collect, approve and submit payroll to Recreation Director.
· Monitors and reports status of equipment to Recreation Director.
Fulfills goals set by Director of Recreation.
· Processes information requests for the assigned division.
· Periodic additional work hours required.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
· Must be 18 years of age.
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Programming, Teaching or Early Childhood Education background required
Licenses and Certifications:
· A valid driver’s license.
First Aid/AED Certification preferred
Salary is $24.00 / hour
